Yes, I agree. I’ve worked with JavaScript & jQuery enough to know that I don’t much like it. I’m no newbie. I started writing code back in the day with Fortran IV and have worked in many languages since then. But JavaScript just frustrates me for the reasons you mention and also because it’s not a compiled language. And the tooling just isn’t there compared to environments like Flash Builder (or Visual Studio). I elaborate on some of these language/IDE concerns in my blog post “Flash is Dead, Long Live Flash:”
